Here’s an informative infographic explaining the basic physics of the knuckleball.  I find the the information about the illusion of the pitch’s movement to be especially fascinating.

    please excuse my french, but in quebec we call a knuckleball un bal de papillon….butterfly ball. makes more sense, don’t it?

    • It does! I like it better. We should work on bringing this into the mainstream lingo

        Yes, I like your idea. i would definitely get behind a movement like that, with picket signs and protests. We can march on New York City or wherever the official MLB linguistics department is located, insisting on butterfly ball among other ideas.

        • This image just popped into my head of a crowd of protesters chanting, “Butter-fly Ball or Bust! Butter-Fly Ball or Bust!” Okay, so the slogan needs work, but I like the image.
